Live At Clontarf Castle

Live At Clontarf Castle

Running time: 70 mins approx.

We have had Tom O'Connor on The Late Late Show give or take 10 times over the last years and I love having him on because he's what we call in the business a banker. He's a safe and sound man. And when he comes on you can actually see the audience settling back saying "Oh Yeah, it's Tom O'Connor, we're going to enjoy this". I think it's because he's completely non-blue for a start and that makes him a comedian for all the family, even with this alleged sophisticated crop of new young comedians.

People love a good yarn. They love a story with a beginning, middle and then a cracker of an end. He is extraordinarily punctilious about never ever repeating a story on The Late Late Show or anywhere else he's appearing.

Apart from that he is an irrepressibly good humoured man. I've never seen him in bad humour and at the drop of a hat he'll sing a song for you, he'll play the guitar , he'll get up and do a dance or anything else that's required of him. As far as I'm concerned of course,  the great advantage is that I introduce him on the show, sit him down, wind him up, turn him on and off he goes and I can sit back and relax and enjoy him for 15 to 20 minutes and that's really the sort of guest I love to have on the show.

I start the tape by repeating something that happened on The Late Late Show. I'd remembered one of his stories I saw him do in Clontarf Castle and I asked him to repeat it because it absolutely knocked me out.....

You'll see for yourself!
